A. Many women did not have the rights they deserve to have. The African Americans were also not allowed to have their rights. All of these 2 issues played a huge role because it led to all types of people fight for the rights everyone deserved. Led by female abolitionists (end slavery) they started movements on order for women' to have the rights they deserved. There were limits to women's rights, but the males took It to another extent. The female would have the own property. Once the men and women got married the male had to take/own the property that the females worked hard for. The other right that females did not tolerate was the fact that they weren't allowed to participate in activities such as conventions that only males were able to do. Also the females had to hand over their earnings of pure hard work over to their father. Many Americans opposed to equal rights for women because they thought that women are nothing without males that males are there to take over and help the females be somebody. The men said that the females lacked physical or mental strength to survive without their protection.
2. Who were the four main leaders of the women’s rights movement? How did each contribute to the movement? What rights were these powerful women fighting for? B. The 4 main leaders of the women's rights movement were Lucy Stone, Susan B. Anthony, Matilda Joslyn Gage, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Lucy Stone, she was a well known spokesperson for the Anti Slavery Society, she also known as a gifted speaker. Susan B. Anthony, brought strong organizational skills to the women's rights movement, as a matter of fact she she changed the women's rights movement into a political movement. Matilda Joslyn Gage, was a writer and co founder of the National Woman's Suffrage Association (NWSA) an organization that was considered one of the most radical groups because of its position that abolition was not an important cause than the women's rights. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, helped author the Declaration of Sentiments (document that detailed beliefs about the social injustice toward women). Despite all the ways these strong women tried to contribute to the women's rights movement, they had 1 thing in common. They wanted the equal rights, equal rights for the women and for themselves too. To have the same rights that men have.
C.
The Seneca Falls Convention was the first public meeting about women's rights that were held in the United States. The Declaration of Sentiments, was a document that discussed the detailed beliefs about social injustice toward women. These 2 events were important because it led to the act of women fighting for what's right, their rights. Women wanted their rights and want the rights they deserved, the ones that the males had, to participate in activity that they weren't allowed to enter before. If I lived in that time period I would have supported these events because I want my life to balanced and not be controlled as if I were a slave. I want to be known for my success, not for a women who gave up her property, her earnings, her liberty to men who all they cared was for money. I'm not going to let/give myself in quickly. I would do anything until I get what I deserve.
Hello author,
ReplyDeleteI strongly disagree with the fact that "women are nothing without males that males are there to take over and help the females be somebody" because, men aren't going to help a woman discover who she really is. Only she, herself, can find that out, and both men and women are human, I don't understand why one is seen as much better than the other. When in reality both are capable of doing the same things. (Link explains how women now a day are coming out of that shell they seem to be "categorized" in, and are doing things that a "man" is only supposed to do; https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-human-beast/200908/why-modern-women-behave-more-men)

Dear Jeffrey,
DeleteI also disagree on how women are perceived as weak. I also don't understand as to why men had thought they were more superior than women. When we had made the discovery of how we truly shouldn't just be at home cooking and cleaning, it was a major step in the right direction. Here's an article (more specifically the video) shows how we are 'weak' and we can fight our own battles.

Dear authors, Shelsy and Jeffrey,
DeleteI am going to piggy back on this idea. Its actually crazy to me that women were perceived as week. Women should never be looked down at. At the end of the day we are all people and are all capable to do whatever we want to do. Women should be able to do the same things that men can do.

Hello authors,
ReplyDeleteIf I lived in the 1800s I would have definitely supported the Seneca Falls convention and Declaration of Sentiments because I would want change, a better life for women. It isn't right for women to have to do so much and not get credit for what they have done, or they just can't do anything at all even though they want to. (This link is all about women and what they believe they deserve and should get; https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017/03/01/2017-womens-history-month/98247518/)
Thanks, Jeffrey
Hello author,
ReplyDeleteIf i lived in the 1800s i would have supported the Seneca falls convention and Declaration of Sentiments just as you would. I believe that all men and women were created equal. Us females can do whatever men can do. If we want to own a house than wean own a house. If we want to make a business than we can absolutely make a business. The fact that women were literally controlled by men kills me. How does the fact that we work our butts off and all that hard work goes into the hands of men because "we cant handle it".
Here are five things to know about the Declaration of Sentiments;

Dear author,
ReplyDeleteI agree with how you stated you would have supported the declaration and convention but for different reasons. I would have wanted what I had work towards for myself. Although, that may sound completely selfish, I would my want my hard work to be a reflection of me, not what my partner has greedily taken away from me. Why should I waste my time just for someone else to take all the credit and believe that I am 'weaker' than they are. Here's an article showing how women truly can be greater than men and how 'women are weaker' is actually a myth. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/11/the-weaker-sex-science-that-shows-women-are-stronger-than-men
Sincerely,

Dear Shelsy,
DeleteI completely agree with you, but in my opinion i do not think that, that comes out really selfish. We work hard for what we earn and it's for us. Here is a link to the actual document of the Declaration of Sentiments. Interesting right!

Hello Author,
ReplyDeleteI completely disagree with the statement that "women are nothing without males that males are there to take over and help the females be somebody" because women are far more capable than what many may think. Just because the way both genders are built does not mean that you can put the other down because one has as much value and potential as the other. Hello Charlene,
DeleteI truly agree with your opinion about how women are more capable then the stereotype leads on. Most women take initiative on this bias concept against women. Honestly, we should all have more respect and reflect on the strength, power, and determinism women have in trying to fulfill and make young girls, a better future. We all need to remember, these "nature born leaders' (men) came from a women in the first place, bearing more pain and suffrage they have through labor, then some have gone through in the past. Dear Author,
ReplyDeleteI too would participate and support the convention if I were alive back them for the same reasons. I would just want to add that if I were to live in a society where I would not only deserve my rights but will exist in it, then why should I let men take over and make all the decisions for the society I live in? Just because we were born this way does not mean you can put a whole entire gender down. Go to this link for more info.

Hello Charlene,
DeleteI completely agree with your perception of how women and other minorities did not choose to be minorities. I bet if we had the choice to be whatever we wanted in life before we were born, most of us would choose the easiest path to success, which is the white male.

dear authors,
ReplyDeleteI emphatically can't help contradicting the way that "ladies are nothing without guys that guys are there to assume control and enable the females to be some person" since, men wouldn't enable a lady to find who she truly is.

dear authors
ReplyDeleteI likewise differ on how ladies are seen as powerless. I additionally don't comprehend with reference to why men had thought they were more predominant than ladies. When we had made the revelation of how we genuinely shouldn't simply be at home cooking and cleaning,

Dear author,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion about doing what you think is right, no matter the trouble or backlash you may face. The way most leaders have made somewhere in life is by standing up for what they believe even if no one is behind them. One voice, one mic. Helps speak for those who are scared about speaking out unless you do too. So I definitely agree, because we are women who are also people. Our voices matter and our actions and its the only we can get by in life. Read this article for more information

Hello Authors,
ReplyDeleteWhile I disagree with what Americans believed during that time period, I understand that what these people believed during this time period was out of your control. However, what these people believed, which is that women were not strong enough or had enough ability without a male at their side, makes absolutely no sense at all. The whole reason why they didn't have a proper education in the first place was because of the fact that men felt that they didn't need it because all they were allowed to do was clean the house and take care of their children. How are these women mentally weak when they weren't given a chance to prove how strong they are in the first place?
